The story begins in the 1920s with Cristina's great-grandmother, María Martínez. Widowed at a young age, she successfully managed and expanded a citrus farm through the acquisition of adjacent lands. Her determination and entrepreneurial spirit enabled her to support her family and laid the foundations of what would become a multigenerational agricultural enterprise.

Her son, Manuel de Torres, Cristina's grandfather, built upon this legacy while pursuing a distinguished career in academia and economic policy. In the mid-1940s, he transformed the family farming operations into a modern citrus plantation in southeastern Spain. Over time, the business expanded further, supporting local farmers through fair land-leasing arrangements and agricultural water distribution across the Alicante and Murcia regions. This model strengthened community engagement, fostered regional development, and created long-term value for both local communities and the de Torres family.

The next generation continued this entrepreneurial tradition. Under the leadership of Cristina's father, Pedro de Torres, who, alongside his international career, continued to grow the family business into a diversified family office managing both financial and non‑financial assets, preserving the family’s entrepreneurial spirit while onboarding new opportunities. Today, the diversified family business is led by Gen4.
